In purpose of the “Me Too” movement

In the last 2-3 years, there have been many important protests and movements. Perhaps one of the most important was the Me Too Movement. The movement spread virally in October 2017 as a hashtag used on social media to help demonstrate the widespread occurrence of sexual assault and harassment, especially in the workplace. It soon followed after the public revelations of sexual misconduct allegation against Harvey Weinstein.
Since the movement starts, millions of people have come forward and shared their personal stories of sexual harassment or assault, including many celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Ashly Judd, Jennifer Lawrence, and Uma Thurman. The original purpose of the “Me Too” movement was to empower women through empathy, and show how many people have experienced these events themselves.
