Discuss what you have learned about the idea of conservation.
After reading about Jean Piaget’s theory of conservation in the textbook and watching the YouTube video “A typical child in Piaget’s conservation tasks”. I learned that children at the preschool years are unable to comprehend numbers, length, liquid, mass, area, weight and volume once they are slightly altered as it is shown on this YouTube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnArvcWaH6I;t=7s). Because during the preoperational stage children between the ages of two (2) and seven (7) years logical thinking ability is not present in the children. During the preoperational stage, children’s use of symbolic thinking grows, mental reasoning emerges, and the use of concepts increase (Feldman, 2017). This was very interesting to that children perceive objects based on physical appearance and not based on quantity.
