Autonomous vehicles and Manual vehicles

Transportation will change people’s lives as the new technology of Autonomous vehicle arises.
Since the last century, cars have changed significantly with new technologies and more high safety standards measures. This paper compares and contrasts Autonomous Vehicles (AV’s) to Manual Vehicles (MV’s) regarding technology and safety.

AV’s are not only-cutting edge vehicles but also safe. By definition, AV’s are transportation vehicles that navigate without human intervention. AV’s have two significant areas to illustrate. First, AV’s have the ability to sense its surroundings and interact with the environment to avoid obstacles. This is due to the advanced technologies (i.e. Artificial Intelligence, Vision Recognition) that helped to teach machines to understand human environments. As a result, these technologies assisted machines to take critical decisions when drivers cannot. Second, unlike MV’s, AV’s are very safe when navigating into moderate congestion tracks. This is very critical to people who are afraid of the huge amount of accidents happening per year. Of course, this will be a big shift for Saudi Arabia as it has the highest rate of accidents in the world. All in all, AV’s will dominant the market, if not replacing MV’s at all.

On the other hand, MV’s are convenient and cheap. MVs are transportation vehicles that are controlled by the driver. MV’s have two main points to show. First, unlike AV’s, MV’s are more outmoded than AV’s. This is because of the old technology MV’s use that are not acceptable by the present standards. Second, MV’s vary when it comes to safety standards, of course, the higher the price of the vehicle the more safety standards you get. Provided that, MV’s count more on human attention during the trip rather than machines automation. All in all, MV’s have medium standards and could be efficient.

To conclude, this paper has shown two significant differences between MV’s and AV’s regarding technology and safety. In my opinion, AV’s are going to change the industry of transportation and enhance people’s lives.
